This years summer school sets its focus on Nonproliferation and the use
of nuclead power with the following issues to be discussed:
• Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT): What changes / influences
can be expected by the US government?
• Conflict areas and regions: Middle East / North-East Asia (the role
of North Korea)
• Civil and military use of nuclear energy: how to assure peaceful
use of nuclear energy?
• Climate change and nuclear energy: Is nuclear energy necessary to
reach CO2 and climate goals?
• Attitude towards and use of nuclear power - differences in Germany
and Japan
Thus, the program of the Young Leaders Forum 2010 covers security
effects as well as the political, economic and ecological dimension of
the use of nuclear power. Top level speakers from politics, business,
and academia will explain their viewpoints. The Forum offers the
opportunity to examine different interests and expectations. The
situation in Japan and Germany will be reflected in its global context.
The program includes talks with political decision makers, visits to
institutions and globally active institutions, for example a visit to
the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna) is envisaged.
