© NAKAMURA TempeiNAKAMURA Tempei
Born 1980 in Kôbe, the Japanese composer and pianist is currently living in New York.
Tempei studies piano from age five until graduating elementary school. During junior high school, Tempei’s house is demolished from the Great Hanshin Earthquake. He leaves high school after six months. Tempei then leaves home and spends a period of time living by working at demolition yards and other physically demanding jobs. Later, he enters a music specialty school (high school). After his studies at Ôsaka University of Arts, he goes to study abroad in New York, currently residing in New York and Tôkyô. In 2010 he does a solo recital at New York’s Carnegie Hall. From the same year, he begins his annual Europe tours, becoming a global performer. As his own project, Tempei periodically puts on his “Hidden Concert Tour” in the deep mountains of world heritage Kii Peninsula..

Japanese composer and pianist, Tempei Nakamura's music is attracting fans and creating a maverick style in the piano field. With beautiful melodies and futuristic rhythms, he has both powerful and nostalgic pieces. His music enhances the beauty of the piano with his brilliant technique. His music is influenced by classical music, jazz, progressive rock etc. and not tied to any specific genre.
(Seattle Symphony, U.S.A. 19. March 2011)
