The documentary “Hafu” (2013, original with German subtitles), was created in a collaboration by two directors Lara PEREZ TAKAGI and NISHIKURA Megumi; it sensitively portrays the social challenges faced by Japanese men and women of mixed heritage in Japan.

The term HAFU derives from the English word “half”. In Japan, people are labeled this if their mother or father are foreign, i.e., not of Japanese descent.
Movie will be followed by a discussion with the director Lara PEREZ TAKAGI and Heiko SAKURAI (Journalist, Berliner Zeitung et al).
They will also talk about their own experiences as “HAFU” and the intercultural challenges.
The movie will be in Japanese with German subtitles, the dicussion will be interpreted simultaneously German/Japanese.
