In “Denkwerk” the Robert Bosch Foundation promotes project partnerships between scientists and academics, teachers and students. The Free University of Berlin's major project “Japan in the 21st century - Society in Transition”, initiated within this framework, is a joint project of the Institute of Japanese Studies of the Free University of Berlin, two secondary schools in Berlin and the JDZB.
The focus of the project will be current social challenges in Japan and the related discourses in politics, economics and society of Japan. As a result of globalization, the aging population, increasing social inequality and the effects of the great earthquake and nuclear disaster in northeastern Japan in March 2011, Japan is facing a number of social challenges that are testing the relationship structures between social players to the limits of endurance.
The students are the focus of the project. They will be shown research methodologies in the humanities and social sciences and deal generally with scientific discourse in an interdisciplinary approach. The final presentation of the students’ work results will take place at the JDZB and discussed with students at the FU Berlin. The project is supported by the Robert Bosch Foundation.
This is the final of three workshops.
