Germany and Japan are facing similar challenges in demographic change: the birth rate is low, life expectancy is increasing, the age structure is changing and the number of skilled workers is decreasing. The JDZB is holding a German-Japanese Symposium on “Strategies for Coping with Demographic Change in Germany and Japan” in cooperation with the German Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (BMFSFJ, Berlin) and the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare (MHLW, Tokyo).
The languages of this symposium will be German and Japanese with simultaneous interpretation.
For further details please refer to the German or Japanese pages.
Below please find a detailed conference report (Bericht, in German), the presentations of each speaker as well as an interview on the topic with the Head of the Department "Demographic Change, Senior Citizens, Social Welfare" of the BMFSFJ, Dr. Matthias von SCHWANENFLÜGEL.
