Over the past few years an increasing number of bribery and corruption cases in internationally active companies has come under public scrutiny, both in Germany and Japan as well. As a parallel development “compliance” i.e., the adherence to legislation and internal company regulations, has established itself as an important issue in international business transactions. While the term itself has been directly borrowed from Anglo-Saxon legal terminology, its application is somewhat more complex. Companies must examine how they map their own compliance structures with the different legal requirements of various countries.
These and other issues will be dealt with at this conference jointly organized by the JDZB and the Deutsch-Japanische Juristenvereinigung (German-Japanese Lawyers Association). The conference language will be German and Japanese with simultaneous translation. Welcoming addresses will be given by Secretary of State Dr GRUNDMANN from the German Federal Ministry for Justice and the Ambassador of Japan, H.E. NAKANE Takeshi.
