Professor AMANO Hiroshi (Nagoya University) - together with Professor AKASAKI Isamu and Professor NAKAMURA Shūji - received the Nobel Prize in 2014 for his research on efficient, blue light emitting diodes. He will talk about the history of the development of LEDs and their applications e.g. in environment technology and water cleaning; he will also touch upon future potentials.
