Demographic change marked by low birth rates, an increasing proportion of elderly people, especially those in need of care, and a decline in the overall population, is especially affecting local and regional communities. This also highlights the complexity of the challenge. Demographic developments are embedded in economic and societal change processes, which can be very different from one region to the next. Only holistic approaches adapted to local conditions can address the complex and varied problems.
The conference will discuss demographic challenges faced by Japanese and German communities as well as discuss concrete solutions at both the national and local level.
Conference languages are Japanese and German with simultaneous interpretation.
