“Tsukuba-Narita 2011/03/13” Photographs by Jens LIEBCHEN and
“After the End
– Architecture between Disaster and Reconstruction” Documentation by Ingrid MACKENSEN

Seven years after the devastating earthquake hit north eastern Japan, the JDZB is dedicating two exhibitions, each consisting of documentary photographs, but taken in different contexts.
The photo series “Tsukuba-Narita 2011/03/13” shows photographs taken by the artist Jens Liebchen two days after the threefold disaster in March 2011 in north eastern Japan on his way to Narita Airport. Through the windows of the bus, the images reflect the journey and the prevailing mood, similar to a road movie.

In contrast, Ingrid MACKENSEN, PhD student at Munich University (LMU), presents architectural aid projects after the catastrophe, which actively involved citizens of the region. As a result, the project was able to serve not only reconstruction efforts through spatial redesign, but also the rehabilitation of communities affected.By participating in the event you consent to the publication of any images in which you are seen.

Opening hours: Monday – Thursday 10 am – 5 pm; Friday 10 am – 3.30 pm
Admisssion free
On display: 1 March until 30 April 2018
