The 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tōkyō honors the JDZB with another meeting for the Olympic year. Olympic and Paralympic Games last for an average of 34 days - while the host city prepares for many years. Every major sporting event, but especially the Olympics, has an impact on the urban landscape, politics, society, economy and public discourse.
In cooperation with the German Institute for Japanese Studies, the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tōkyō and other comparable large-scale sports events from sociological and political-scientific perspectives will be examined and contrasted during this panel discussion. The background for this event is the publication of the anthology “Japan through the Lens of the Tokyo Olympics” published by B. HOLTHUS, I. GAGNÉ, W. MANZENREITER and F. WALDENBERGER (Routledge 2020).
The event willl take place from 4 until 7 pm in German
