Crisis communication is not only a central issue in the management of the Covid-19 pandemic. Japan looks back on a multitude of communication experiences in disaster situations, especially in the case of the great earthquake in Eastern Japan and the triple disaster of 11 March 2011.
This cooperation project with the Japan Foundation takes the tenth anniversary of this disaster as an opportunity to discuss German and Japanese approaches and experiences of communication in crisis prevention and crisis management. At the same time, this project is to be highlighted as part of the anniversary celebration of 160 years of German-Japanese relations.
