Symposium: Revitalizing Local Communities with Declining Population

FOCAL AREA: STATE, CORPORATIONS, CIVIL SOCIETY
Date: 2013-11-01
Venue: Sendai, Japan
Cooperation: Institute for Behavioral Studies (IBS), Tôkyô; Tôhoku University, Sendai

Conference Report (jdzb echo No. 105)

Reconstruction of Tôhoku requires comprehensive planning and it is a huge financial challenge for Japan in general and especially for the regions affected as they deal with a massive national debt and a shrinking population. This conference will focus on how planning constraints interface with reconstructing infrastructure and communities with their local cultural requirements.
