The modification of the population structure in many industrial societies which has come about through demographic change is a highly contentious issue. Work, employment and the pension system in Germany and Japan are shaped in different ways. With these issues in mind, the symposium will discuss the effects of demographic change on employment and enterprise, focusing particularly on how businesses adjust to the growing number of elderly employees on the labor market.
Experts from both countries will engage in a lively exchange on future challenges and possible solutions for coping with demographic change.
Conference languages are German and Japanese with simultaneous translation.
