Negotiations related to climate protection regulations for the period after 2012 should have been originally finalised at the Climate Conference in Copenhagen in December 2009. However, after lengthy negotiations the conference ended with only a political agreement (“Copenhagen Accord”). The goals of the German Federal Government and the EU remain unchanged. Meanwhile Japan’s new government has announced ambitious climate goals. Experts in Germany are interested in learning more about the measures that Japan will adopt to reach its goals. Both sides are keen to support each other. In the run-up to the international climate negotiations at the governmental level in Bonn (May 31 to June 11, 2010), the JDZB will organize a conference for experts to deal with these issues in Berlin.
