The event is divided into a symposium and a workshop.
On the morning of February 28, the symposium "Perspectives for the development of academic libraries in Germany and Japan" will be held, followed in the afternoon of the 28th and the entire following day on the 29th the Workshop "Researching Japan Information for the Japan-related Libraries in Europe." The symposium has the goal of promoting exchange between Germany and Japan in this field as well, and to offer German librarians, who usually do not work with Japanese materials, an opportunity to observe a German-Japanese comparative study.
The workshop, however, will only be open to staff working in Japan-related libraries within the European region and is considered as vocational training. Speakers will come from Japanese libraries and institutions that offer bibliographical and Japan-related databases via the internet. Both events, which are held in cooperation with the Japan Foundation, are a continuation of the Library seminar series held in November 2000.
We are sorry, but the workshop is not open to the public and will be held only in Japanese.
