Symposium "The Global Economic Crisis and Socio-Political Challenges" am 17. Juni 2009 in Tôkyô Veranstalter: Japanisch-Deutsches Zentrum Berlin, Keizai Kôhô Center (Tôkyô) und Institut der Deutschen Wirtschaft
The global economic crisis is a challenge for the socio-political texture of societies. On the one hand the crisis causes politicians, opinion leaders and the public to reflect our economic model in depth and possibly to initiate new goals and frameworks. On the other hand it brings back the preservers, who try to roll back reforms and initiate economic stimulus packages in the established way, without considering possible structural causes of the social and economic development.
Will the global crisis and demographic change accelerate social change and disparity? What are the consequences for the labor market in Europe and Japan? How is the political stability affected?
To discuss these issues the Japanese-German Center Berlin, the Keizai Kôhô Center and the Institut der deutschen Wirtschaft (Cologne) organize this German and Japanese experts for labor markets, wage, and income policy will discuss the situation and challenges for labor markets in Japan and Europe and exchange their ideas of future challenges for the society and corporations.
